A Quiet Day Turns Tragic

On September 25, 1992, Anthony Evans, a 26-year-old American Indian/Alaska Native man, embarked on a routine boating trip near Kasaan Bay, located off the eastern coast of Prince of Wales Island in Alaska. The day, like many others in the region, was shrouded in mist and unpredictability. Evans, familiar with the waters, was expected to return without incident. However, as hours turned into days, concern grew among his family and community when he failed to return. Despite extensive search efforts, neither Evans nor his boat were ever found, leading authorities to presume he drowned in a boating accident .
