A Young Life Interrupted

On October 1, 1981, 18-year-old Richard Raymond Omelak departed from his residence on Laurene Street in Fairbanks, Alaska, and was never seen again. Standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds, Richard was of American Indian/Alaska Native descent, with brown hair and brown eyes. Known to some by the nicknames "Ricky" or "Ricki," his sudden disappearance left a void in the community and a mystery that remains unsolved to this day. 

The Initial Investigation

Following Richard's disappearance, local authorities initiated an investigation, but details about the early stages are scarce.
