Kristina Ashe Olsen was a 50-year-old woman residing in Sebastopol, California. She was reported missing on April 7, 2008, after her sister in Washington state received a letter postmarked April 3, which contained a suicide note, along with Olsen's credit cards and vehicle registration .

Later on April 7, 2008, Olsen's white Toyota pickup truck was found abandoned at the East Beach parking area in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area in Shasta County, California.
