A Night That Changed Everything

On the night of March 3, 1984, 13-year-old Shannon Lee Potter disappeared from her home in the Parkville area of Baltimore County, Maryland. Living with her mother on Foster Avenue, Shannon reportedly climbed out of her bedroom window to attend a party. She left behind a note, the contents of which have not been publicly disclosed. This act marked the beginning of a mystery that has remained unsolved for over four decades.

Initial Theories and Early Investigations

At first, authorities and family members believed Shannon had voluntarily left to stay with her father in Mississippi or another relative. This assumption was based on her recent long-distance calls to Florida, Colorado, and Mississippi, and her expressed excitement about an upcoming summer visit to her father's home. However, this theory was challenged when Shannon's mother received a letter postmarked from Orlando, Florida, five days after her disappearance. A Shift in Perspective: Suspecting Foul Play

As time passed without any confirmed sightings or communications, the initial belief that Shannon had run away began to wane. Investigators started to consider the possibility of foul play. At the time of her disappearance, Shannon was described as a white female, 5'5" tall, weighing 140 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
