A Life Interrupted: Who Was Stacey Morrison?
Stacey Jane Morrison was a 23-year-old woman from Peoria, Illinois, who vanished on May 20, 1993. Standing between 5'0" and 5'3" and weighing approximately 130 to 145 pounds, she had red or auburn hair, green eyes, and distinctive features including acne scars, a scar on her upper right leg, a strawberry birthmark at the base of her neck, and a Cesarean section scar on her abdomen. She also had a lazy left eye, wore eyeglasses, and was known to use the alias "Becky" .
Stacey faced significant challenges in her life. She was mildly mentally disabled, with the mental capacity of a ten-year-old, and had a history of drug abuse. Her mother believed she might have also suffered from schizophrenia. Due to her mental health conditions, Stacey was not capable of living independently .
The Night She Disappeared
On the evening of May 20, 1993, Stacey was released from jail after being incarcerated for prostitution. She planned to spend the night at the YWCA located in the 300 block of Northeast Jefferson Avenue in Peoria. However, the shelter did not allow entry until 10:00 p.m., leaving her to wait outside for several hours. During this time, she expressed fear that someone who had previously threatened her would find her. This individual had warned her that she needed to earn money through prostitution or face violence. Stacey was scheduled to call her family the following day but never made the call. She has not been seen or heard from since .

In 2004, Joseph Robert Miller, a convicted serial killer serving a life sentence for the murders of multiple women in Illinois, claimed responsibility for Stacey's disappearance and that of another woman, Valarie Sloan, who also vanished from Peoria in 1993. Miller provided authorities with a supposed burial site, but no human remains were found. Authorities have expressed skepticism about Miller's confession, noting that he has a history of making false claims to gain attention. Despite this, Stacey's mother believes Miller's account. As of now, no charges have been filed against him in connection with Stacey's case, and her disappearance remains unsolved ....Read More
