A Promising Life Interrupted

Timothy Gerard McKernan was a 16-year-old high school sophomore from Petaluma, California. Described as a responsible and well-liked teenager, Timothy had brown hair, blue eyes, and stood between 5'9" and 5'10", weighing approximately 130 pounds. He had a distinctive scar on his lip and had fractured his right arm twice. Known affectionately as "Tim" or "Timmy," he was a student at St. Vincent's High School and was not known to have any issues that would suggest he might run away from home .

The Day He Disappeared

On the morning of April 23, 1973, Timothy left his home on Weaverly Drive around 10:00 a.m. to run an errand for his mother. He rode his bicycle to a supermarket on Washington Street to pay a utility bill.
