A Missionary's Life of Service
Janet Sue Miller, born on June 17, 1937, dedicated her life to serving others. Originally from Ohio, she spent many years as a missionary nurse in Hong Kong, a role that deeply influenced her compassionate nature and commitment to her faith. After retiring, she settled in Brookhaven, Georgia, choosing the area for its warmer climate and proximity to a supportive church community. Her life was characterized by devout religious practice, community involvement, and a gentle demeanor that endeared her to those around her.
The Day She Disappeared
On December 24, 2015, Janet attended a Christmas Eve service at Brookhaven Baptist Church, located at 1294 N. Druid Hills Road. Surveillance footage from earlier that day captured her at a nearby Kroger grocery store on Peachtree Road. A fellow church member, Doug Smith, provided her with transportation to and from the store.
