On December 15, 2000, 44-year-old Nick Zaukar was last seen navigating the Holitna River in Alaska, en route from Bethel to his home in Sleetmute. Witnesses reported seeing his vehicle's taillights veer into open water, suggesting he may have fallen through the ice. Despite search efforts, Zaukar was never found and is presumed to have drowned.
