A Fateful Ride on the Big Susitna River

On April 10, 1993, 28-year-old Kenneth Lee Eldred embarked on a snowmachine journey near Talkeetna, Alaska. Approximately seven air miles downstream from Deshka Landing, his snowmachine broke through the ice on the Big Susitna River, leading to his disappearance. Despite extensive search efforts, Eldred was never found.
