The Night Linda Hatfield Disappeared
On May 29, 1984, 31-year-old Linda Hatfield completed her shift at the Hunt Club in Garden City, Idaho. Around 1:00 a.m., a bouncer escorted her to her vehicle, a T-Bird, and watched as she drove off toward her home in Middleton. This was the last confirmed sighting of Linda.
Early Morning Witness Accounts
Approximately an hour later, at 2:00 a.m., witnesses in Middleton reported seeing Linda’s T-Bird alongside another vehicle parked on the street. They recounted hearing an argument between a man and a woman, believed to be Linda and an unidentified male.
Abandoned Vehicle Discovery
By 8:30 a.m. that same morning, Linda’s T-Bird was found abandoned in a parking lot on South Curtis Road in Boise. At that time, she had not yet been reported missing, so the vehicle was initially left untouched. It wasn't until June 1, when her husband filed a missing person report, that authorities began processing the vehicle.
Transition from Missing Person to Homicide Case
On June 4, 1984, based on the evidence gathered, multiple agencies reclassified Linda's case from a missing person to a homicide investigation.
