A Promising Life Cut Short

On the evening of July 9, 2007, the city of Arlington, Texas, was shaken by a violent incident that claimed the life of 19-year-old Richard Wayne Elliott Dowell. Known for his kind spirit and gentle demeanor, Richard was a recent graduate of Sam Houston High School in Arlington. Friends and family remember him as a respectful and polite young man who had a passion for basketball and a bright future ahead. His untimely death left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.

The Fateful Gathering

The tragic events unfolded around 10 p.m. on July 9, 2007, at an apartment complex located in the 3400 block of South Watson Road in Arlington. A large group of youths had congregated outside the complex, and what began as a social gathering quickly escalated into a heated altercation.
