Nezir Alija, a 47-year-old man originally from Kosovo, had been living in the United States for over two decades. Residing in Garden City, New York, he was known as a father of three and had established a life in the community. Standing at 5'7" and weighing approximately 160 pounds, Nezir had gray or partially gray hair and blue eyes.
On May 2, 2020, Nezir left his apartment and was never seen again. His sudden disappearance raised concerns among family and friends, as it was uncharacteristic of him to leave without notice.
Prior to his disappearance, Nezir faced legal issues stemming from a domestic violence allegation. After being reported for domestic violence, he was released 24 hours later with the condition that he appear in court two months later. Following this incident, he was not allowed to return home and initially stayed with a cousin before moving into his own apartment.
Nezir was last seen at work on May 6, 2020. He did not inform anyone that he would be absent from work thereafter.
