Background on Morterrius Settles

Morterrius Dantonio Settles, known affectionately as “Boney” or “Boney‑Head,” was a 27‑year‑old African American man from North Memphis. Standing 6′3″ and weighing around 190 pounds, he had black hair , brown eyes, a light mustache and goatee, and visible tattoos on his arms and neck. On August 11, 2010, Settles was wearing a white T‑shirt and blue jeans when he mysteriously disappeared from the Aureen Manor Apartments, located at the corner of Chelsea and Tunica Streets.

On the afternoon of his disappearance, Morterrius placed a phone call to his girlfriend. According to reports, he sounded upset and expressed distress, stating that he needed her house key to retrieve money owed to other individuals.
