In early April 2022, 21-year-old Chase Hanson was last seen departing from Maliko Gulch, heading toward Paia, a small town on Maui's north shore. His family, growing increasingly concerned over the lack of communication, reported him missing on May 29, 2022. This extended period without contact was uncharacteristic for Hanson, prompting fears for his safety and well-being. 

A Community's Concern

The Maui Police Department issued a public appeal for information regarding Hanson's whereabouts. Described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes, Hanson was last seen wearing dark-colored shorts, a dark-colored shirt, and black shoes. Despite these details and the community's efforts, no substantial leads have emerged. 

A Troubled Past

In August 2021, Hanson was involved in a serious incident where he was arrested for throwing a football-sized rock at a moving vehicle on Hana Highway, shattering the windshield and endangering the driver. He faced multiple charges, including attempted first-degree assault and first-degree criminal property damage. This event highlighted potential underlying issues that may have contributed to his disappearance.
