On July 3, 1975, the city of Bremerton, Washington, became the backdrop for a perplexing mystery that remains unsolved to this day—the disappearance of 19-year-old Francis "Frank" Martin Cantea. Despite the passage of nearly five decades, the circumstances surrounding his vanishing continue to baffle investigators and haunt his loved ones.
Frank was last seen on July 3, 1975, when he visited his friend, Dan DeRocca, to return a borrowed record. DeRocca later recounted that Frank appeared unusually nervous and declined an invitation to stay and chat—a behavior uncharacteristic of him. This brief and uneasy encounter marked the last confirmed sighting of Frank.
Concern grew when another friend, Toby Daniels, contacted Frank's family on July 6, inquiring about his whereabouts. Alarmed, his loved ones checked his apartment on Elizabeth Avenue. Inside, they found his wallet, car keys, house keys, comb, loose change, and cash scattered on his dresser. The room showed no signs of struggle, and his 1965 Mustang was parked outside. Despite these clues, Frank was nowhere to be found.
The last family outing with Frank occurred on June 22, 1975, during a trip to Seattle. His mother, Anna Cantea, recalled that Frank was in good spirits, displaying no signs of distress or trouble. He had recently lost weight and appeared healthy. Anna emphasized that Frank had no known enemies and had never been in trouble with the law. on Vanished at Sea: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cameron Booth Off Chincoteague's Coast
He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through. Dont support this families sick parade of using a monster to get sympathy. He was never ashamed of who he was. He loudly boasted his crimes and justified them. The family shouldn't sit there and pretend, how far from reality are they to sit and post this man publicly on news outlets, websites, knowing who he is. Do they need attention that badly? They don't want the attention from the truth. The victims will never get justice. Do not pray for him o
