Introduction to the Case
On April 25, 2011, the Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a distressing call at 9509 Cochise Way in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of 64-year-old Donald P. Thornhill inside his residence. The coroner later determined that Thornhill had died from sharp force injuries, indicating a violent attack.

Born to Phillip and Mary (McCandless) Thornhill, Donald spent his entire life in Louisville. He was employed as a cook but had been disabled for several years leading up to his death. He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through.
