A Night Out Ends in Tragedy

On October 30, 2016, 31-year-old Gilbert Leroy Wainwright III attended a concert in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood. The evening, filled with music and camaraderie, took a devastating turn in the early hours. Around 12:45 a.m., officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered Wainwright lying on the sidewalk in the 3400 block of West Hirsch Street. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds, and despite prompt medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hailing from Downers Grove, Illinois, Wainwright was known for his love of music and his unwavering support for the Chicago Blackhawks.
