A Promising Life Cut Short

On March 31, 2020, the vibrant community of Smoketown in Louisville, Kentucky, was rocked by a tragic event that claimed the life of 16-year-old Monterry Hamilton. Described by those who knew him as a funny and authentic young man, Monterry's untimely death left a void that continues to be felt deeply by his family and friends.

The Fateful Evening

That evening, Louisville Metro Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of Coke Street around 8:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Monterry and another male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, where Monterry was pronounced dead. The other victim survived and was listed in stable condition.
