In the summer of 1984, 13-year-old Kelly Jean Harris traveled from her home in Pasadena, Maryland, to Jackson, Michigan, to spend time with her mother, Carol Hugall, and stepfather, Leonard Hugall. Kelly was a vibrant, biracial teenager who loved Michael Jackson, the color purple, and playing with her younger sister, Kristen. She was preparing for a significant change, planning to move to California to live with her great-aunt and attend school there .
On August 10, 1984, Kelly was last seen riding her red three-speed bicycle near her family's home on Lincoln Court. She was upset that day because her parents wouldn't allow her to attend the county fair. When her mother returned home from work that afternoon, Kelly was gone. Her bicycle was later found abandoned at the entrance to Ella Sharp Park, a location some distance from her home .
Initially, authorities treated Kelly's disappearance as a runaway case, partly due to her recent argument with her parents and reports that she had purchased a bus ticket to Detroit and was seen boarding a bus . This assumption delayed critical early investigative efforts. However, her family, particularly her mother, insisted that Kelly would not have run away and suspected foul play from the beginning.
Leonard Hugall, Kelly's stepfather, quickly became a person of interest. He had a documented history of violent behavior and child molestation predating his marriage to Carol . Despite this, he was uncooperative with investigators and maintained that Kelly had run away. Carol confronted him directly, asking if he had harmed her daughter, but received no answer. Their marriage eventually ended in divorce in 1994. on Vanished at Sea: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cameron Booth Off Chincoteague's Coast
He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through. Dont support this families sick parade of using a monster to get sympathy. He was never ashamed of who he was. He loudly boasted his crimes and justified them. The family shouldn't sit there and pretend, how far from reality are they to sit and post this man publicly on news outlets, websites, knowing who he is. Do they need attention that badly? They don't want the attention from the truth. The victims will never get justice. Do not pray for him o
