A Routine Evening Turns Mysterious

On the evening of January 4, 2019, 49-year-old Stephen Mark Millis, affectionately known as Steve, embarked on what seemed to be a typical errand in Hesperia, Michigan. He visited the Dollar General store on East South Avenue to purchase cat food and planned to meet someone in the parking lot to sell fishing gear. Surveillance footage captured Steve entering the store at 6:40 PM and making his purchase at 6:47 PM. He appeared relaxed and even shared a smile with the cashier. Moments later, he exited the store and vanished without a trace .

Abandoned Vehicle and Personal Belongings

Later that evening, Steve's black GMC Jimmy was discovered abandoned in the Dollar General parking lot. The vehicle was unlocked, and inside were his personal belongings, including a duffel bag containing clothes and toiletries, as well as the cat food he had just purchased. Notably absent were his keys and cell phone, both of which have never been recovered. The man who was scheduled to meet Steve for the fishing gear transaction arrived to find Steve gone and his vehicle unattended .
