A Promising Life Interrupted

Davante Marquez Richardson, a 28-year-old aspiring music producer from Washington, D.C., vanished under mysterious circumstances in July 2020. Known for his creativity and ambition, Richardson was the CEO of Big Blues Studio, a multimedia company catering to the music industry. He was also a tattoo artist and had previously worked as a grocery store manager before the COVID-19 pandemic led to his unemployment. At the time of his disappearance, he was living with his mother on Mississippi Avenue Southeast in Washington, D.C.

The Journey West

On July 20, 2020, Richardson informed his family that he was traveling to Wyoming to meet his "buddy," whom he referred to as Kanye West. Despite not knowing the rapper personally, Richardson was reportedly inspired by West's ventures and had expressed a desire to assist him. His final communication was a text message to a friend stating he was "going to see his buddy."

Discovery of the Abandoned Vehicle

On July 27, 2020, Richardson's blue 2016 Jeep Compass was found abandoned on a dirt road approximately 15 to 20 miles east of Greybull, Wyoming, near one of Kanye West's ranches. The vehicle was in pristine condition, with no signs of mechanical issues or evidence of a long road trip. Inside the car, authorities found Richardson's laptop, two cell phones, and keys, but his clothing, travel bag, wallet, and identification were missing.

Investigative Efforts and Challenges

The Big Horn County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the FBI and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., launched an extensive search for Richardson. Efforts included aerial searches, drone surveillance, K-9 units, and ground searches on horseback. Despite these efforts, no trace of Richardson was found. Authorities also interviewed Kanye West's security team, who were cooperative but had no knowledge of Richardson's arrival.
