On the evening of July 31, 2015, 59-year-old Michael Lee Smith, a seasoned taxi driver in Orlando, Florida, embarked on what was expected to be another routine shift. Known for his dedication, Smith often worked late hours to support his family. However, that night marked the beginning of a perplexing mystery that remains unresolved to this day.
In the early hours of August 1, 2015, Orlando police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near Ohio Avenue and Sunset Lake Drive. Upon arrival, they found a taxi partially submerged in Lake Sunset, showing clear signs of foul play. The vehicle had been set on fire, and evidence suggested an attempt to push it into the lake to conceal a crime. The taxi was registered to Michael Smith, but he was nowhere to be found .
Investigators noted signs of a struggle inside the taxi, including blood on the door and in the trunk. These findings indicated that Smith had likely been the victim of a violent crime. Despite extensive searches using aviation resources and bloodhounds, no trace of Smith was found in the vicinity .
In December 2015, authorities arrested 21-year-old Paul Strickland on charges of armed carjacking and accessory to murder in connection with Smith's disappearance. Strickland was later charged with first-degree murder. Investigators believed he did not act alone . on Vanished at Sea: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cameron Booth Off Chincoteague's Coast
He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through. Dont support this families sick parade of using a monster to get sympathy. He was never ashamed of who he was. He loudly boasted his crimes and justified them. The family shouldn't sit there and pretend, how far from reality are they to sit and post this man publicly on news outlets, websites, knowing who he is. Do they need attention that badly? They don't want the attention from the truth. The victims will never get justice. Do not pray for him o
