On March 9, 2017, 24-year-old Delicia Annette Waddy was with relatives at the Kings Dominion Camp Wilderness Campground in Doswell, Virginia, when her life took an unforeseen turn. At approximately 11:30 a.m., she was seen at the campground, where she had attempted to negotiate the price of a cabin but left without securing one. Following this, she was last seen walking away from the campground, heading east on U.S. 30 toward Caroline County. She was wearing a black and white top, dark pants with a white stripe down the leg, and a multicolored baseball cap, but was noted to be without shoes. This marked the beginning of a distressing mystery for her family and a complex case for law enforcement. The day after Delicia was last seen, her silver Ford Explorer was discovered abandoned but in working order with a full tank of gas in nearby Hanover, Virginia. A troubling discovery was made behind the Meadow Event Park, not far from her vehicle, where her personal belongings, including her purse, wallet, cell phone, and driver's license, were found. Some reports indicated these items were neatly stacked. An intensive search was launched by the Hanover County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Caroline County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police, and other local agencies, utilizing helicopters, ATVs, and K9 units. However, this extensive search was called off after witnesses reported seeing a woman matching Delicia's description walking in a field off Route 30 in Caroline County. Search dogs had also tracked her scent to a home in that area. In the days that followed, the situation grew more perplexing. On March 12, an acquaintance reported seeing Delicia on Fendall Avenue in Richmond, about 25 miles from where she was last seen, though they were unaware she was a missing person at the time. Prior to her disappearance, Delicia had posted a message on her Facebook page that read, "Its never too late to do the right thing. Don't get discouraged. (Speaking to myself also)." The meaning of this post in relation to her disappearance remains unclear. Her family described her behavior as bizarre and completely out of character, as she had never gone so long without contacting them. They fear she may have been abducted. Since the day she vanished, there has been no activity on her bank accounts or social media. The case of Delicia Waddy's disappearance is an ongoing investigation, a painful puzzle with no clear answers, leaving her loved ones in a state of prolonged uncertainty as they continue to hope for her return.
