Kristyn Sue Richerson, a 51-year-old woman of Caucasian and Cherokee heritage, was last seen by friends at her home in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on May 25, 2018. At the time, she was excitedly preparing to attend the Rocklahoma music festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, to see her favorite band. Known for her kind and generous spirit, friends and family describe her as someone who loved life and would never voluntarily leave her home, her beloved dog, Buddy, or her family. She was 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighed around 200 pounds, and had brown hair styled in a short fauxhawk and hazel eyes. She wore reading glasses and had distinctive tattoos, including an 8-10 inch image of Stevie Nicks on her right calf, and a scar on the back of her right leg. On the day she vanished, she was reportedly wearing a tan or beige colored shirt and camouflage pants, and may have had a bandana on her head. The circumstances following Kristyn's last sighting quickly became suspicious. Although one of her roommates, Carl Bryce, claimed they went to the festival together and that she left with an unidentified woman, cellphone records indicated Kristyn's phone never left the Muskogee area. This discrepancy raised immediate red flags for investigators and her family, who officially reported her missing on July 6, 2018. Further investigation revealed that Bryce and another roommate, Cody Ray Campbell, had been selling or giving away some of Kristyn's belongings in the weeks after she was last seen. Additionally, Bryce was found to have used Kristyn's Oklahoma Access Card after her disappearance. Both men were considered material witnesses, and while they faced charges related to a stolen vehicle found at the residence, no charges directly related to her disappearance were initially filed against them. The investigation took a more serious turn when authorities received a tip from Campbell, alleging that Bryce had stabbed Kristyn to death and buried her in the backyard of their home on Houston Street. A subsequent search of the property in July 2018 uncovered a recently disturbed pile of dirt and the scent of decomposition, but Kristyn's remains were not found. On the same day as the search, first-degree murder charges were filed against an unidentified "John Doe" in connection with her case, though no arrests have been made. The case remains an active investigation, with foul play strongly suspected. Despite multiple searches and ongoing efforts by the Muskogee Police Department, Kristyn Richerson has not been found, and her family continues to seek answers and justice.
