In December 2017, the life of 39-year-old Jessica Seybold took a turn that left her family searching for answers. A mother of two, Jessica was last seen in the Trafton area of Arlington, Washington, around December 12th of that year. At the time of her disappearance, she was reportedly living with her mother and was on the verge of seeking treatment for an addiction to methamphetamine. The weekend she went missing, she sent a video message to her mother from outside the Angel of the Winds Casino in Arlington. In this last communication, she expressed fear, stating she was with a "creepy guy" who had her car keys. On the day she vanished, she also sent text messages indicating she was with a man and feared she was being set up. Following her disappearance, troubling discoveries were made. Jessica's ex-boyfriend located her black 2008 or 2009 Ford Fusion at a property in the area where she was last seen. The windshield of the vehicle was severely damaged. The women residing at the property claimed to have written permission from Jessica to have her car. Adding to the distress, some of her belongings were reportedly found burned. The investigation into her disappearance led to numerous interviews and the circulation of her photo by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, but the evidence remained circumstantial. Unconfirmed rumors began to circulate within the local community that she may have been harmed. Years after she was last seen, the investigation into Jessica Seybold's disappearance remains active. In June 2022, detectives received a tip that led them to excavate a property in the Trafton area, one of the last places she was known to have been. Despite the use of ground-penetrating radar and extensive digging that unearthed buried trash and furniture, no human remains were found. The new owner of the property granted investigators full permission to search. The case is a complex one, marked by the distressing final communications from Jessica, the discovery of her abandoned and damaged vehicle, and the persistent but unconfirmed accounts of foul play. The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office continues to seek information from the public, hoping for a breakthrough that will finally provide answers for her family.
