In the early spring of 2016, a family member dropped off 42-year-old Kevin Patrick Mcerlean in the city of Aberdeen, Washington. This would be the last time his family would see him. A short time later, on March 31, 2016, Kevin had an encounter with the Aberdeen Police Department, which marks his last confirmed contact with anyone. Since that day, he has not reached out to family or had any further interactions with law enforcement. Kevin, a Caucasian male with brown hair and blue eyes, stood approximately 6 feet tall and weighed around 250 pounds. He has distinctive vertical and horizontal scars near his right eye, the result of a dog attack in his childhood. When last seen, he was wearing a black heavy coat, Carhartt work pants, and a hospital admittance bracelet. The circumstances surrounding Kevin's presence in Aberdeen are shrouded in mystery, as he had no known family or friends in the area. It is believed that he may have found work as a house painter for a period. Complicating the search efforts was the fact that Kevin had no permanent address at the time of his disappearance. Furthermore, he did not own a vehicle and was not in possession of a valid driver's license or identification card, making it incredibly difficult to trace his movements. His reasons for being in Aberdeen and his subsequent disappearance remain unknown. The official report of his disappearance was not filed with the Aberdeen Police Department until nearly two years later, on February 14, 2018. Despite the passage of time, the investigation into what happened to Kevin Mcerlean continues. His case is listed in national missing persons databases, and law enforcement remains hopeful for a breakthrough. The lack of a digital footprint, coupled with the transient nature of his life at the time, has presented significant challenges for investigators. The central questions of why he was in Aberdeen and what events led to his silence persist, leaving his family with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss. The case remains an active and unresolved missing person investigation.
