On May 26, 2012, 57-year-old William Junior Adkins was last seen in Richmond, Virginia. His disappearance, however, would not be officially noted for months. William was experiencing homelessness at the time, and it was not uncommon for him to be out of touch with his family for extended periods. This transient lifestyle meant that the silence stretched from weeks into months before the true weight of his absence settled upon his loved ones. It wasn't until September 26, 2012, that his family, after not hearing from him for at least three months, filed a missing person report with the Richmond Police Department. The circumstances surrounding William's life made the subsequent investigation incredibly challenging for law enforcement. As a man without a permanent address, there was no clear starting point, no last known residence to search for clues. He was known to travel the 25-mile distance between Richmond and Petersburg, Virginia, further widening the geographical area of the search. William is a Black male, standing six feet four inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Unfortunately, no description of the clothing he was wearing on the day he vanished is available, another missing detail in a case with very few to begin with. The years have passed without any resolution, and William's case has grown cold, remaining an open and unsolved investigation classified as an endangered missing person case. The lack of available information and the significant delay in reporting him missing created formidable obstacles that have yet to be overcome. His case is a somber overview of how easily a vulnerable individual can disappear without a trace. With no evidence of his whereabouts or the circumstances of his disappearance, his family is left in a state of perpetual uncertainty, holding on to the hope of one day finding answers and achieving some measure of closure.
