In the early summer of 1995, a sense of unease began to settle over the family and friends of Juan Manuel Briones-Madera. A 36-year-old man residing in Tacoma, Washington, Juan was a familiar face in his community. However, on June 9th of that year, he was seen for the last time, and then, without a trace, he vanished. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were unclear, leaving those who knew him with a void of information and a growing sense of worry. The days turned into weeks, and with no word from Juan, the official report of his disappearance was filed on June 25, 1995, marking the beginning of a long and painful search for answers. The investigation into Juan's whereabouts was launched by the Tacoma Police Department, under the case number 95-1760817. At the time he went missing, Juan was described as a Hispanic/Latino and White/Caucasian male, standing at 5'9" and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He had black hair and brown eyes. The case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) as #MP42757 much later, on March 22, 2018, in the hopes that a wider audience and new technologies could shed some light on this decades-old mystery. Despite these efforts, the trail had grown cold, with very few leads to follow. Years have passed since Juan Briones-Madera was last seen, and his case remains an open wound for his loved ones and the Tacoma community. His disappearance is a somber reminder of the many individuals who vanish without a trace, leaving behind a legacy of unanswered questions and enduring grief. The Tacoma Police Department's cold case unit continues to hold the files of unsolved cases like Juan's, hoping for a breakthrough that might one day bring closure. The overview of this case is one of a sudden and unexplained absence, a man who one day was a part of the fabric of his community and the next was gone, leaving only memories and the lingering question of what happened on that June day in 1995.
