In the early hours of June 8, 1994, 28-year-old Francisco "Frankie" Javier Mendoza was given a ride by someone from his home in Toppenish, Washington. This would be the last time his family ever saw him. Mendoza, a Hispanic male with black hair and brown eyes, was reportedly with two long-time friends, leaving the city of Toppenish. At the time of his disappearance, he was approximately 5'5" and weighed between 150 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, shorts, and sneakers. The account provided by his friends was that their vehicle broke down, and Mendoza decided to walk back to town to get help. He was reportedly last seen at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Toppenish around 1:30 a.m. After that, there has been no contact with him. The Toppenish Police Department is the investigating agency for this case. Years later, his family continues to search for answers. In 2019, they spoke of their ongoing search for Francisco, expressing the belief that he is likely no longer alive but holding onto the hope of bringing him to a peaceful final resting place. The case of Francisco Javier Mendoza remains an unresolved disappearance, a painful mystery for his loved ones who are still seeking information about what happened to him after he was last seen walking back to town on that June morning.
