On a summer day in August 2017, 56-year-old Barbara "Barbie" Lisa Stewart was at the Cherokee Travel Plaza in Roland, Oklahoma. It was there, on August 4th, that she was last seen, and in the time since, the details of what happened to her have remained scarce. Stewart, a resident of Arkansas for most of her life, was known to have a heart condition and memory issues. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a white female with blonde or white hair and blue eyes, standing between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. The circumstances surrounding Barbara Stewart's disappearance are unsettlingly vague. While she was last seen at the travel plaza, a concerning discovery was made 21 miles away in Alma, Arkansas. Some of her personal belongings and clothing were found in a dumpster behind the Rainbow Car Wash. How these items ended up there remains unknown. The clothing she was believed to be wearing when she vanished included a faded teal t-shirt with a black cross design, black knit leggings, and black ankle socks. She may have been wearing either black sneakers with Dr. Scholl's inserts or dark green and brown calf-high boots. Barbara was a person with many distinct physical features, including scars on her chest and lower back. She had numerous tattoos, which her family hoped would help in identifying her. These included a face with an anchor on her right forearm, two connected hearts between her right thumb and index finger, a sun on her left wrist, a black cross on her left forearm, a banner with her children's names on her upper left arm, a butterfly with a smiley face on her buttock, and two small black dots on her neck resembling a vampire bite. The investigation into her disappearance is being handled by Arkansas authorities, specifically the Crawford County Sheriff's Office and the Alma Police Department. The case of Barbara Stewart is a quiet one, with few public details available, leaving her loved ones with years of unanswered questions.
