In the spring of 2014, a 32-year-old Seattle woman named Donna Vanzandt, also known as Donna Petukhova, vanished. The last contact her family had with her was in April of that year. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a White female with brown hair and blue eyes, standing five feet ten inches tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds. She had a scar on her left ankle and a tattoo on her right ankle. The circumstances surrounding when and why she left the Seattle area remain unclear, leaving her loved ones with unanswered questions. Months drifted by with no word from Donna. Then, in August 2014, a significant but unsettling discovery was made by hunters in a remote part of the Olympic National Forest near Neilton, in Grays Harbor County. They stumbled upon Donna's 2000 Honda Civic on a secluded logging road. The condition of the vehicle suggested it had been stationary for a considerable amount of time; vegetation had grown up around it, indicating it had likely been there for several months. Inside the car, investigators found the keys, along with camping and hiking equipment, but there was no sign of Donna herself. The scene offered few clues as to what might have happened to her. The Grays Harbor County Sheriff's Office opened an investigation into Donna's disappearance, but the passage of time has not brought clarity. Her family revealed the immense personal hardships she had faced in the years leading up to her disappearance. Her father had been murdered in New York, and she was also grieving the loss of her mother. Despite these challenges, what transpired after she left her car in the national forest remains a mystery. The official investigation, initiated on August 29, 2014, has yet to yield definitive answers, and the case of Donna Vanzandt is an ongoing search for a woman who seemed to simply vanish into the wilderness, leaving behind a life and a family still waiting for her to come home.
