In the spring of 1967, a sense of unease settled over the small community of Tappahannock, Virginia, nestled in Essex County. On May 11th, 56-year-old Robert Hugh Motley, known to friends and family as Hugh, was seen for the last time. A white male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing between 180 and 190 pounds, his sudden absence would leave a void in the lives of those who knew him and spark a mystery that would endure for decades. The days turned into weeks, and with no word from Motley, concern grew into a formal investigation into his whereabouts.
