In the autumn of 1980, a sense of unease settled over the family of James Edward Laws, a 21-year-old man known to his loved ones as Eddie. On November 22, 1980, Eddie, a resident of Asheville, North Carolina, vanished, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions that would span decades.
