Eryk Krystyphyr Richards, a 32-year-old man, vanished on September 10, 2012, after embarking on a kayaking trip in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Grand Isle, Louisiana. The day before, he had spoken with a friend and shared his plans for the solo excursion. Richards was known to be an avid outdoorsman, and this trip was not out of the ordinary for him.
