On February 21, 2012, 20-year-old Jonathan Schrattenholzer was last seen leaving his home in Clarkston, Washington. He drove away in his black 1995 Honda Passport with Washington license plate number 916UDF. Jonathan, a reserve in the United States Marine Corps, was known to enjoy driving and hiking in the rural areas surrounding Asotin County, as well as in nearby Garfield and Wallowa Counties. When he left, he did not take his cell phone, and there has been no activity on his bank accounts since his disappearance. The circumstances surrounding Jonathan's disappearance have been troubling for his family and investigators. His mother indicated that he had been feeling lost and depressed after deciding to drop out of the University of Idaho at the end of his first semester. He had reportedly made an appointment for therapy, but he disappeared just a few days before he was scheduled to be seen. A particularly concerning clue came from a conversation Jonathan had with his grandfather, where he allegedly stated that if he ever disappeared, no one would be able to find him. Despite extensive search efforts by both ground and air in the surrounding counties, no trace of Jonathan or his vehicle has been found. Volunteer groups have also contributed to the search, using sonar technology to scan bodies of water in the region, but these efforts have not yet yielded any results. The Asotin County Sheriff's Office is the primary investigating agency for this case, which remains unsolved. The disappearance of Jonathan Schrattenholzer is a case marked by a lack of evidence and the haunting words he shared with his grandfather, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions.
