In the winter of 1976, a young man named Harold Hiram Covey, just 20 years old, vanished from the small town of Oscoda, Michigan. On December 23rd, he was last seen leaving a local establishment known as Karen's Cabins. Witnesses reported seeing him get into a dark blue Chevy truck. At the time of his disappearance, Harold had no wallet or identification on him, adding a layer of mystery to his sudden absence. He was a man with distinct features, including long blonde hair, blue eyes, and a crooked little finger on one of his hands. He sometimes wore a beard and sideburns. On the day he went missing, he was dressed in jeans, a grey hooded sweatshirt, an Eisenhower jacket, and black platform shoes. The circumstances surrounding Harold's disappearance are few and have left his family with unanswered questions for decades. He was living with a woman named Elizabeth Goldstick at the time, who had recently separated from her husband, David Goldstick. David, an active member of the Air Force, was reportedly the last person to see Harold. According to reports, David had gone to the cabin to pick up Elizabeth and their children for a squadron party. He claimed he later returned to the cabin for some board games and saw Harold on the phone. This was the last known sighting of Harold Covey. Over the years, David Goldstick was questioned about his involvement in Harold's disappearance, but he has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The investigation into Harold Covey's vanishing has remained open, a cold case with few leads to follow. The Oscoda Township Police Department has maintained the case file, but without new information, progress has been stagnant. The lack of any significant evidence has made it difficult for law enforcement to piece together the events of that December day. Harold's case is a somber reminder of the many individuals who disappear without a trace, leaving behind a void in the lives of those who knew and loved them. The official narrative remains that he was last seen getting into a truck, a simple act that marked the beginning of a long and painful mystery.
