In the summer of 2011, a family's life was forever altered when 40-year-old Alfonso Edgar Najera vanished without a trace. On July 8th, Alfonso was in Everett, Washington, having traveled there from his home in Benton County the day before. He was staying at a hotel in the Everett area and, on that Friday, he spoke with his wife, assuring her he would be making the journey back home to Kennewick, Washington, later that evening. This was the last time his family would ever hear from him. When he failed to return home as planned, a long and agonizing search for answers began for his loved ones. Alfonso was a Hispanic male, standing at 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing between 300 and 310 pounds. He had brown hair, which was shaved at the time of his disappearance, and brown, almond-shaped eyes. A noticeable characteristic was a missing front tooth, and he wore eyeglasses that had black upper frames with no frame on the lower part of the lenses. When last seen, it is believed he was wearing dark-colored loose jogging-style pants and a pullover sweatshirt or a polo-type shirt. He was also likely wearing black Nike running shoes with mid-calf socks. Alfonso was known to wear a chunky sterling silver rope-style necklace and a distinctive Rado "Jubilee" watch with a gold frame and band and a black face. The mystery deepened when Alfonso's vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Charger with Washington license plate number ADS5187, was discovered abandoned in a parking lot in Wilsonville, Oregon. The discovery of his car so far from where he was last seen, and in another state entirely, only added to the disturbing questions surrounding his disappearance. Despite the efforts of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office, who have been investigating the case, very few details have been made public about what, if anything, was found in the vehicle or any potential leads that may have been developed. The circumstances leading to his vehicle being left in Wilsonville and his subsequent disappearance remain unknown. The case of Alfonso Najera has grown cold over the years, leaving his family with no closure and a void that cannot be filled. The narrative of his disappearance is a chilling one: a man away from home on what seemed to be a routine trip, a final phone call to his wife with a promise to return, and then an unending silence. His vehicle's location in another state points to the possibility of him having traveled a significant distance after he was last seen, but whether this was of his own volition or under duress is a question that remains unanswered. The lack of available information in the public domain speaks to the challenging nature of this investigation, which has left a family waiting for answers for over a decade. The overview of this case is one of sudden and unexplained absence, leaving a family to grapple with the pain of not knowing what became of their loved one.
