In the early morning hours of June 20, 2005, a then 21-year-old Black male named Brandon Darquice Anderson vanished from Kalamazoo County, Michigan, leaving behind a trail of questions that have lingered for years. At the time, Brandon was a resident of Battle Creek, Michigan. His disappearance occurred after a three-car collision on Interstate 94. Brandon was a passenger in an eastbound Ford Taurus when the accident took place near exit 88 at approximately 1:45 a.m. What happened in the immediate aftermath of the crash would be the last confirmed sighting of Brandon. Instead of remaining at the scene, he made a decision that would forever alter the course of his life and the lives of those who cared for him. He was seen crossing the busy highway, navigating over a fence, and then running into a dark, wooded area located on the property of the Ft. Custer Training Center. Following his flight from the accident scene, an extensive and thorough search of the vast wooded terrain was launched by authorities. The hope was to locate Brandon and ensure his well-being, but the search efforts yielded no clues. It was as if he had disappeared into thin air. There were no signs of his whereabouts, no articles of clothing, and no indication of the direction he may have taken after entering the woods. At the time he went missing, it was discovered that Brandon had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. His mother has speculated that his decision to flee the scene of the car accident was likely an attempt to avoid any interaction with law enforcement that would result from the collision. Despite the possible reason for his initial flight, his mother has always maintained that his prolonged silence is completely out of character. She has stated that her son was always in regular and consistent contact with her, and it was unlike him to go for any extended period without reaching out. This lack of communication has led her to fear that her son may have encountered foul play after he ran from the scene. The circumstances surrounding Brandon's case are perplexing; a young man involved in a car accident makes the choice to run, a decision potentially influenced by a minor legal issue, and is never heard from again. The initial search was exhaustive, yet it turned up nothing. Over the years, his case has remained open, a painful and unresolved chapter for his family who continue to hope for answers regarding the fate of their loved one.
