The events leading up to Andre's disappearance began the day prior, on March 28, 1989, when his mother, Monique Rivera, encountered the two unidentified women while she was out for a walk with Andre and her two older sons. One of the women was described as a Black female, around 30 years old, with a dark complexion and a heavyset build, who was wearing sunglasses. The other woman was described as being either Hispanic or Black, approximately 22 years old, with a light complexion and long red hair. After a conversation, they persuaded Monique to go shopping with them. The next day, the women contacted Monique and arranged another shopping trip, specifically insisting that she bring Andre along. At about 2:00 p.m., Monique and Andre left their residence and were last seen getting into the women's car. Tragically, the day after she and her infant son were last seen, Monique Rivera's body was discovered in a wooded area in the Bronx. She had been strangled and had defensive wounds, indicating she fought for her life. There was no sign of Andre at the scene, and the two women and their vehicle were gone. The case of Andre Bryant's disappearance has remained unsolved for decades, leaving his family with unanswered questions and the enduring pain of not knowing his fate. Authorities have considered the possibility that Andre was sold into an adoption ring. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance have led to comparisons with other unsolved child abductions in New York City from that same year, though no definitive link has been established.
