In the autumn of 2023, concern grew for 54-year-old Craig Allen Bennett in Comanche, Texas. He was last seen on October 16, 2023, in the vicinity of the 800 block of County Road 403, just north of the city of Comanche. When he failed to show up for his job, he was officially reported as a missing person to the Comanche County Sheriff's Office two days later. At the time of his disappearance, Bennett was described as being six feet tall, weighing approximately 270 pounds, with balding gray hair and brown eyes. The Comanche County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation, following up on various leads and information provided to them. Over the course of the next 18 months, authorities continued to pursue the case, which included executing multiple search warrants. The search for Bennett was a persistent effort, involving deputies and concerned members of the community who hoped for his safe return. Investigators also discovered during their work that Bennett had outstanding warrants from Missouri. Tragically, after an extensive search that lasted for nearly two years, the case came to a sad conclusion. In March 2025, law enforcement conducted a renewed search of the area where Bennett was last seen, utilizing both ground personnel and drones. During this intensive search, human remains were discovered. The remains were sent to the University of North Texas Forensic Laboratory for analysis and were positively identified as belonging to Craig Allen Bennett. An inquest was conducted, and preliminary findings from the forensic analysis indicated no evidence of foul play. The Sheriff's Office extended its condolences to Bennett's family and expressed gratitude to the community for their support throughout the long and difficult investigation before his remains were returned to his family.
