On the morning of December 3, 2009, 46-year-old Tony Gene Day left his family's home in Jones, Oklahoma, for his job at Kimray in Oklahoma City, but he never arrived. That evening, after he failed to return home, his work truck was located using its GPS tracking device. The vehicle was found abandoned in a wooded area near Northeast 63rd and Henney Road, approximately 15 miles from his residence and not on his usual route to work. The GPS data indicated the truck had been parked there at about 6:00 a.m. that morning. It also showed a brief, four-minute stop at the intersection of Harrah and Britton roads before the truck was left at its final location. Inside the vehicle, investigators found his lunchbox and sunglasses, but Tony Day was gone. The last known communication from Tony was a text message he sent to his wife that morning which read, "We need to talk." When she replied, his phone had already been turned off, and it has not been used since. At the time of his disappearance, Tony was going through a contentious custody battle with his ex-girlfriend over their daughter. A court hearing for this matter was scheduled for the day after he went missing. This, coupled with a recent promotion at work, made his sudden disappearance highly uncharacteristic in the eyes of his wife, who expressed fears for his safety. She was adamant that he would not have voluntarily left, especially given the ongoing custody dispute. The investigation into Tony Day's disappearance has been handled by the Jones Police Department and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, but years have yielded no definitive answers. Searches of the area where his truck was found were conducted, but no trace of Tony was ever located. The circumstances surrounding his vanishing remain a mystery, with the unexplained four-minute stop and the timing of his disappearance in relation to his court hearing being particularly perplexing elements of the case. With no witnesses and a lack of physical evidence, the case has grown cold, leaving his five children and other family members without resolution. The case remains a suspicious disappearance, with authorities and his loved ones still seeking information that could explain what happened to Tony Gene Day.
