On August 11, 2000, Dr. David D. Voss left Arkansas for a week long vacation, traveling to St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He checked into his hotel late in the evening on Friday, August 11, 2000. He sent emails back to Arkansas on Saturday, 8-12-2000, saying he had arrived safely and was going scuba-diving after sending the emails.
