On a summer evening in Hartford, Connecticut, sixteen-year-old Rosa Maria Valentin finished her shift at work and began her walk home, a routine journey that would tragically be her last. It was July 26, 1986, and Rosa, known to her loved ones as Rosita or Coco, was seen accepting a ride from a twenty-nine-year-old acquaintance, Pedro Miranda, in his distinctive white Ford Mustang Cobra.
