In the late summer of 2023, concern grew for the well-being of Nikko Luis Meza, a 28-year-old man who vanished in Houston, Texas. His last confirmed sighting was on August 29, 2023, after which communication from him ceased, leaving his family and friends in a state of uncertainty and distress. The Houston Police Department was notified of his disappearance the following day, and an investigation into his whereabouts was launched. At the time he went missing, Nikko was described as a Hispanic and/or Caucasian male, standing at 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing approximately 225 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The lack of clear details surrounding the circumstances of his disappearance made the initial stages of the investigation particularly challenging for law enforcement. Nikko has several distinct tattoos that were highlighted as identifying features during the search. These include the word "MEZA" tattooed on his back and the letters of the word "DEATH" spelled out across the knuckles of his right hand. Additionally, he has a tattoo of a black Starlink on the top of his right hand, a black and white Korean scroll on his right forearm, and another tattoo on the outside of his right arm. As days turned into weeks and months, his family and the community remained hopeful for answers, circulating his description and photos in an effort to generate leads. The case was entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), a national resource for missing person cases. The search for Nikko Meza came to an unexpected conclusion when he was located alive. On April 3, 2025, Nikko, then 30 years old, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service at a residence in Utah. His location was discovered as a result of an investigation into a separate crime. The Houston Police Department had identified him as a suspect in the death of 30-year-old Sebastian Angel, whose body was discovered in Greens Bayou on September 2, 2023, just four days after Nikko was last seen. Authorities stated that Angel had sustained at least two gunshot wounds. Nikko Meza was officially charged with murder on April 2, 2025, and arrested the following day. He is currently awaiting extradition from Utah back to Harris County to face the charge. The resolution of his missing person case brought an end to the uncertainty of his whereabouts, but simultaneously transitioned into a homicide investigation with him as the accused.
