On a cold winter evening in Port Townsend, Washington, 49-year-old Lyn Marie Ohana vanished without a trace. It was December 8, 2005, when Lyn, also known as Marilyn Marie Carter, was last seen at approximately 6:00 p.m. leaving the residence she shared with her mother in the 1400 block of Monroe Street. She told her mother she would be back later that evening and asked her to leave the porch light on. This was unusual behavior for Lyn, as her mother noted she rarely went out in the evenings. Lyn, who did not drive and relied on public transportation, left on foot, possibly carrying a small backpack and wearing a dark-blue mid-length winter coat and wire-framed eyeglasses. All of her personal belongings, including her debit and credit cards, cash, and a pull-cart she typically took on trips, were left behind at her home. The investigation into Lyn's disappearance brought forth few leads. A private investigator hired by her family utilized a scent-tracking dog, which followed her trail from her home to the vicinity of the former Golden Age Club near Chetzemoka Park, just a few blocks away, where the scent abruptly stopped, suggesting she may have gotten into a vehicle. Despite this, police found no evidence to suggest foul play. Lyn was a self-employed massage therapist with clients primarily in the Seattle area, a city she traveled to regularly. Her family and authorities confirmed she had not shown up for her work appointments in Seattle. Checks of her bank accounts showed no activity, and a search of library computers, which she used for email, yielded no clues. Lyn was described as a private individual who led a minimalist lifestyle. She had no known history of substance abuse, no criminal record, and no reported mental health issues. The mysterious disappearance of Lyn Ohana has left her family with unanswered questions for years. Her loved ones described the evening she went missing as peculiar and out of character. Despite the passage of time, her case remains unsolved. At the time she went missing, she was 49 years old, stood 5'4" tall, and weighed around 105 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She also had several scars on the inside of one of her elbows and her upper incisors protruded slightly. The circumstances surrounding her leaving home that night—on foot, without any of her essential belongings, and at an uncharacteristic time—continue to be a focal point of a case that has grown cold but is not forgotten.
