On a cold winter's night, January 3, 2004, 31-year-old Yvonne Renee Scott was last seen in Wyoming, Michigan. A mother of two young sons, Yvonne was at a difficult point in her life, separated from her husband and trying to overcome a struggle with crack cocaine. That evening, at approximately 11:00 p.m., she was seen in the vicinity of the 2900 block of Clyde Park Avenue SW, walking eastbound on 28th Street. Earlier that day, she had contacted the police to report that she had been robbed by two people. Officers responded and took a report, after which Yvonne left on foot, and was never heard from again. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a Native American female, standing between 5'11" and 6'0" tall and weighing between 135 and 145 pounds, with long, curly brown hair and brown eyes. She had a mole on her inner right ankle, a scar under her chin, and pierced ears. She was last seen wearing a short-sleeved white knit pullover shirt, black sweatpants with "Bing Bang" written in pink across the back, a long black cotton trench coat, and black slip-on shoes with a medium heel. She also wore glasses with gold-colored wire frames and a necklace with a cross pendant. The investigation into Yvonne's disappearance has been ongoing for years, handled by the Kent County Sheriff's Department. Authorities sought two potential witnesses, men in their mid-twenties who were seen with her on the day she vanished and were driving a gray pickup truck with a black stripe. A suspect was identified at one point, and their home and vehicle were searched, but no evidence was found to link them to Yvonne's disappearance, and no charges have ever been filed. Investigators have considered the possibility that her case may be connected to a series of murders of local sex workers. Her husband acknowledged that she had been involved in sex work to support a drug habit but had been making efforts to turn her life around and was about to start a new job at the Holland American Wafer Co. While she had a history of disappearing for short periods, she had never been gone for more than a week at a time. Over the years, law enforcement and community organizations have made public appeals for information that could help solve this cold case. The Silent Observer program has offered a financial reward for information that leads to locating Yvonne or, if a crime was committed, the arrest of those responsible. Tragically, both of Yvonne's parents passed away without ever knowing what happened to their daughter. The case remains an open and painful chapter for her remaining family, including her two sons, who are still searching for answers about their mother's fate. The investigation has exhausted all traditional means, leaving the family and authorities to rely on the hope that a tip from the public might one day bring closure and justice for Yvonne.
