In the spring of 2024, 47-year-old NaVey Erlene Skinner was navigating a challenging period in her life. Having lost her home in 2020, she had been experiencing homelessness in the Everett and Lynnwood areas of Washington. Despite these struggles, she remained in contact with her family. On May 1, 2024, NaVey was last seen in Everett, Washington. On that day, she had a seemingly ordinary conversation with her mother, mentioning that she had ordered a new Social Security benefit card and a credit card to be sent to her mother's house. A few days later, the cards arrived in the mail, but NaVey was nowhere to be found and her phone was no longer in service. NaVey's silence was uncharacteristic and immediately raised concern among her loved ones. Her mother, Tina Duran, noted that her daughter would typically call at least once a week, regardless of her circumstances. The fact that NaVey missed significant events like Mother's Day and a call to check on her mother after knee surgery was highly unusual. Friends also confirmed they had not seen or heard from her since early May. Her boyfriend, who was still in possession of some of her belongings, could not provide any information on her whereabouts. Compounding the worry was the fact that NaVey had not collected her newly arrived debit and food stamp cards, which her mother felt was out of character for someone in her situation. Despite the passage of time, NaVey Skinner remains a missing person. She is described as a white female with blonde hair and hazel eyes, standing between 5'4" and 5'6" tall, and weighing between 125 and 135 pounds. She has several distinct tattoos, including a floral design on her lower back, a fairy on her left ankle, words on her neck, Chinese characters on her right back shoulder, and a tribal tattoo on her right buttock. She also has a three-inch scar on her left wrist and an infected bunion on her left foot. When last seen, she was wearing a white tank top and jeans. Her mother shared that while NaVey struggled with substance abuse, particularly after having to give her child up for adoption, she also had periods of sobriety where she would regularly attend Narcotics Anonymous meetings and church services. The Everett Police Department is investigating her disappearance, and her family continues to hold out hope for answers. The case is a painful example of the ambiguity and heartache that surrounds a missing loved one, as a family waits for any news while grappling with the many unanswered questions about what happened to NaVey.
