In the spring of 2024, 37-year-old Curtis Jerome Crockett’s life appeared to be following a familiar rhythm in Federal Way, Washington. On April 27th, he began his day by dropping his girlfriend off at her job, a routine act that gave no indication of the mystery that would soon envelop his existence. Later that day, however, the ordinary pattern was broken. Crockett failed to pick up his girlfriend's children from school, an unexpected and concerning deviation from his responsibilities. When his girlfriend returned to their apartment, she discovered his keys left behind on the counter. The majority of his personal belongings remained in the home, suggesting a departure that was neither planned nor anticipated. This sudden silence was profoundly out of character, especially regarding his own children, with whom he maintained regular contact despite them not living with him. The weeks that followed his disappearance were marked by a distressing lack of communication from Crockett, deepening the fears of his family and friends. A significant development in the case came when Crockett's vehicle was found abandoned. His car had been parked at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent since at least May 2024. It wasn't until July of that year that the vehicle was officially reported as abandoned. This discovery, while providing a piece of the puzzle, did little to illuminate his whereabouts or the circumstances of his disappearance. The official report of his disappearance was not filed with the Federal Way Police Department until July 29, 2024, several months after he was last seen. As the investigation continued, unconfirmed sightings of Crockett were reported in late 2024. One report from November 25, 2024, came from a staff member at the Catholic Community Services Kent Family Center, who believed they had seen him. Following this lead, detectives with the Federal Way Police Department found evidence suggesting that Crockett might be experiencing homelessness in the Kent area and utilizing local resources. Despite these reports, no direct contact has been made with Crockett by law enforcement or his family, leaving his official status as a missing person unchanged. His family, including his sisters and children, continue to hold out hope, expressing their deep desire to simply know that he is safe. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for those who know and love him, a narrative of unsettling questions and the enduring hope for a reunion.
