In the late summer of 2024, concern grew for 32-year-old Charity Ratrice Smoot after her family lost contact with her in August. She was last seen in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 21, 2024. On that day, she was arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for second-degree trespassing. This interaction with law enforcement was her last known activity before communication with her loved ones ceased.
