In the small town of Ponca City, Oklahoma, a young man named Jeremiah Demitrus Moneta, aged 22, vanished, leaving his family engulfed in a state of desperate uncertainty. The last confirmed sighting of Jeremiah was on January 17, 2025, in the vicinity of North Pine Street and West Cleveland Avenue. A recent transplant from Kansas City, Missouri, Jeremiah had moved to Ponca City to be with his mother, Jamie, approximately eight months before his disappearance, following the passing of his uncle with whom he had been living. He had started to build a new life, securing a job and was in the process of moving into his own apartment. Known to be a loving and hands-on big brother to his six siblings, his sudden silence was uncharacteristic and immediately raised alarms among his loved ones. He was last seen wearing a grey Kansas City Chiefs hoodie and jeans. The circumstances surrounding Jeremiah's disappearance are unsettling. On the evening he went missing, his mother received a peculiar phone call from a woman who claimed to have found his old cell phone and his asthma inhaler. This was particularly concerning to his family, as they knew he never went anywhere without his inhaler. Attempts to reach him on his new phone were met with the call being answered and then immediately disconnected, and text messages were read but went unanswered. Adding to the mystery, some of his personal belongings were discovered in the 400 block of North Union Street. His bicycle, which was his primary mode of transportation, was found at his apartment, which showed no signs of a struggle or any disturbance. The woman who initially claimed to have found his old phone later changed her story when speaking with police, stating that Jeremiah had sold it to her for a small sum of money. In the days and months that followed, Jeremiah's family relentlessly searched for him, organizing volunteer groups and distributing flyers. His mother, Jaimie Hansen, became a fierce advocate for her son, reaching out to various law enforcement agencies, including the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, for assistance. She even organized a candlelight vigil to raise awareness and funds for a reward in hopes of generating new leads. The Ponca City Police Department has been investigating the case, and while they have stated there were no initial indications of suspicious circumstances, the unexplained details have left his family fearing the worst. The case of Jeremiah Moneta remains a painful and unresolved mystery for his family and the community, a story of a young man on the cusp of a new chapter in his life who seemingly vanished without a trace.
